TDS Donates $5000 to STLP

TDS has given a $5,000 grant to support the school's Student Technology Leader-ship Program. The Student Technology Leadership Program (STLPTM) was estab-lished in 1994 by the STLP State Advisory Council. Student-designed projects, prod-ucts and services are created to help the school and community. The program is open to ALL students in all grade levels in every school (P-16) in Kentucky.

The Mission of the Student Technology Leadership Program (STLPTM) is to advance individual capabilities; to moti-vate all students; and to create leadership opportunities through the use of technology.

The Student Technology Leadership Program has six goals:

Goal 1. The STLP will develop activities which enhance the academic, social and emotional growth of the student.
Goal 2. The STLP will provide leadership oppor-tunities for all students.
Goal 3. The STLP will participate in multi-age collaboration by forming innovative learning partnerships.
Goal 4. The STLP will form learning partner-ships among students with different technology skills.
Goal 5. The STLP will develop activities which benefit communities.
Goal 6. The STLP will develop instructional activities which integrate technology and benefit the school and support KETS (Kentucky Education Technol-ogy System).

Coordinators guide students in creating projects, products and services. The pro-jects, products and services should accom-plish the 6 STLP Goals. "This is a natural fit for TDS. Investing in the communities we serve is something we feel is very important, so we are delighted to support this program," comments Nick Ruskowski, TDS Regional Market Manager.

At this time Leslie County has three schools that are actively participating in STLP. The Leslie County Middle School, Stinnett Ele-mentary, and Leslie County High School will be working hard to create a program in which stu-dents will be engaged in learning, sharing, and helping achieve all the goals of the STLP pro-gram giving them the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills and to compete against other schools across the state.

Thank you TDS!!!!

Success!
